About
Ink & Ribbon Press

Craft · Collaboration · Community

A nonprofit literary publisher devoted to helping one poet at a time bring a singular work into being — books that carry a life inside them, made with the care and craft they deserve.

Our Mission

Ink & Ribbon Press exists to help one poet at a time bring a singular work into being — books that carry a life inside them, where the whole cannot be broken without loss. Each title we publish reflects our belief that poetry deserves to be realized, not merely assembled; made with care, not produced for volume.

We are not interested in collections as a category. We are interested in works that needed to exist — manuscripts with an internal architecture, an emotional arc, a reason to be held together. When we find one, we give it everything: close editorial partnership, fine materials, and a physical object worthy of what’s inside.

To accomplish our mission, Ink & Ribbon Press:

Publishes Limited editions built around a single poet’s singular vision
Hosts The $3,000 LemonLight Prize for an outstanding poet
Engages Readings, workshops, and mentorships
Collaborates With schools, libraries, and peer presses

We publish fewer books, because each one takes everything.
The craft is not the point — it is the proof
that what is inside deserved this level of care. Publishing Philosophy · Ink & Ribbon Press

Our Values

Craft

Every book we make is a physical argument for poetry’s permanence — fine materials, considered design, and the long life of the object in mind from the first page.

Integrity

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are transparent and accountable — governed by fairness, sustainability, and deep respect for the poets and readers we serve.

Community

We thrive within a constellation of poets, readers, and presses — bound by generosity, shared purpose, and a belief that literary culture is built together.

Meet the Founder

G. K. Allum

G. K. Allum

President & Founding Editor

G. K. Allum founded Ink & Ribbon Press out of a conviction that poetry deserves to be realized, not merely published — that the right book, made with care, can carry a life inside it and outlast the moment of its making.

A Pushcart Prize–nominated poet and award-winning artist, his own books began as limited works made out of necessity and love. That experience — of understanding what it means to need a book to exist — shapes how Ink & Ribbon works with every poet it publishes.

Support the Press
